What do I need to make this service work for me?
Web access, an email account, a mobile phone and a TraiTel account - that's it!

What type of email accounts can I use with TraiTel's SMS alert service?

You can use POP3 which is the most popular and the one typically used with email clients like OutlookTM. You can also use IMAP which is more advanced than POP3 and used frequently with web based email offerings such as (AOLTM, YahooTM, GMailTM, etc) OR you can use an email address we give you such as mailto:yourname@ttalerts.com to send all your important emails to.

The emails sent to your ttalerts.com email address, will (in addition to being sent as an SMS) be forwarded to the email address you specify during sign up so that you also receive the original email to your inbox.

For added security you can use SSL encrypted authentication or if that is not possible, standard authentication is available also.

What defines an "alert" from emails that I don't wish to receive on my phone?

The email alert service allows you to define sets of rules that apply to the emails you receive. The rules allow you to specify exactly what emails you wish to receive as an alert, by filtering out the sender, the subject or by combining both. You can even specify what days and hours of the day you are happy to be alerted on your phone!

After you define what emails you wish to receive as an alert, you can then proceed to choose exactly what content you want to have sent to your phone. Emails are generally long and contain information that is irrelevant, text messages (SMS) on the other hand are best kept short.

A stock or auction notification will often contain disclaimers and other information that you don't want, but by using the filters provided you can get rid of all that information and receive on your phone exactly what you do want.

Am I contracting myself to TraiTel by opening up an online account?

As with the email alert service and every other service that TraiTel offers, there are no contracts, no set up fees, no commitments or minimum usage requirements to worry about. You simply create an account online, test the service with the free SMS provided and continue past the free trial by adding enough funds into the account to cover the traffic or usage levels that you expect. Deposited funds do not expire either.

How reliable is your service and can I count on the SMS alerts to arrive to my phone?

TraiTel has been offering SMS solutions to corporate and SMEs for over 7 years now. We have built an extensive self-healing network that spans the globe. If anything is to ever go wrong at any of our POPs the network automatically recognises this and routes all data to the POPs that are 100% accessible.

Customers of our standard SMS service include financial, legal and emergency institutions that require an extremely high level of uptime which can only be achieved by companies that invest heavily on redundancy - companies like TraiTel Telecommunications who will not settle or stop at just 99%.

Every GSM network world-wide will receive the high quality SMS that TraiTel sends via the incumbent telecommunications operators of New Zealand. Most CDMA networks will also receive our SMS, however, our free trial will ensure that you know this for sure prior to adding any funds to your account.

Can I see the interface that I'll be using to set up my alerts?

Yes of course! Simply click on the "Log in" button on the top right of this web page and that will take you into our demo account. At the top, you will find a menu called "SMS" and after opening it up, you will see "Email to SMS Alerts".

What is the cost of the service?

A monthly fee of $4.95 and only $0.15 per SMS will give you full access to the service from anywhere in the world. Of course as with all our other services, TraiTel offers a free trial period of 3 months where you do not pay for the monthly fee. Additionally, if you use this code TTF467APDUX4431 you will instantly receive 20 SMS to test the service with.
